I'm sure you know that Jess is the English major and my English/writing skills are not as polished. I'll do my best to give this blog subject the justice that it deserves but one paragraph is a long writing project to me.
So last week wasn't as bad, I only worked 55 hours in four days, but the previous two were not so great. I worked 75 hours in six days one week and 75 hours in five days the next week. Jess never complained once. She takes care of 4 boys all day and still finds a way to help her 5th boy too. I rarely saw, ok never saw, the laundry room and yet I always had the clothes I needed. I can't say how much it brightens my morning to open my drawers and see them full with the clothes that I need for the day.
We have very good boys and it is a direct result of their wonderful mother. She keeps up on Andrew's homework, during the school year, and reads them books. They have a great love of the gospel and they are planning to get married in the temple after their missions. There have even been weeks where we have two family home evenings because they look forward to it so much.
When Jess was sick and in the hospital there was one day that really made it quite clear that I could not survive without her. There were many times where I had that realization but the Monday that school started after spring break, one week after she went back in, I about... fell flat. I had to get up an hour early to get ready and then get them all ready; that really didn't seem feasible, and since Jess had a test that I wanted to be present for, I called in sick. So, I got up on time and after an hour more than I had planned; I had the kids ready with their lunches, boomboos (blankies), and whatever else (including a booklet of instructions on the kids that Jess had made before the baby) ready. I took them to a neighbors house to be taken care of for a few hours, then they would be transplanted to another ward members house until 6:00 when I could pick them up after work and visiting Jess for a couple of hours (by the original plan). I picked them up at six and fortunately had a dinner supplied by the ward. After dinner I gave them all baths and put them to bed. I was exhausted. I could not do that every day. I realized that without Jess we would not survive. I am grateful for the ward getting me through that week. I am grateful for Jess getting us through every other week. I am thankful that I still have her.
Well anyway, it has been less than three months since we almost lost this amazing woman and what does she come up with; she wants to run a 5K. I'm thinking I don't think I can finish 5K. She did it though, and in great time! 38 minutes! That is amazing! Way to go Jess; I love you.
